Judith's Story
After college, I taught H.S, English in Lake County, Co. (Leadville) and eventually became a school counselor and director of counseling services. In 1991, my husband's health demanded that we move to a lower altitude and we moved to Alamosa ( well, it was a little lower!) where I became the high school principal and then assistant superintendent for the Alamosa School District.
My husband's health continued to deteriorate and in 2001, we moved to Pueblo where I had family. At that time, I retired from K-12 education and went to work for Adams State College as the Coordinator of Graduate Teacher Ed in Southeastern Colorado. In additio...Expand for more
n, I did consulting work for the Colorado Department of Education in educational reform, principal leadership, and migrant education.
After my husband's death, I retired (again) though I still do some consulting work for CDE and teach an occasional class or supervise principal leadership interns for ASC.
Now I am a pretty stereotypical retiree. I travel quite a bit, love the theater and the Colorado Rockies, volunteer with causes and community organizations dear to my heart, take "enrichment" classes, read, and spoil my dog and my grandchildren---not necessarily in that order. Life is good and it is busy, but not nearly as hectic.
