Judy's Story
Blondest hair (been blonde since our prom--thanks go to Kathy Bradley--& decided I should have been BORN a blonde), greenest eyes, & reddest lips--those things are all the style I need.
On this road of life, you learn a lot. What have I learned?
-- If you're over 18, never ask ANYONE'S PERMISSION...for ANYTHING...EVER !
-- Music TRULY make the world go 'round.
-- Timing is ... EVERYTHING !
-- Sometimes you just have to put on some lipstick, have a cool beverage, and
just kick back -- everything will be fine!
Life's been a very happy, thrilling ride. Been married for over 53 years to a really GOOD man (& we haven't killed each other...yet -- giggle, giggle), two wonderful grown kids; a 13 year old precious, smart grandson. Since he was a 7 yr old, could theorize about the origin of the universe, have FUN making up algebraic equations, constantly talking about black holes & event horizons, & already knew how to count in English & French by the age of 2!), funny, & quirky grandson, Matthew; and a 9 year old adorable, smart, artistic, happy granddaughter, Lauren (who, by the way, tells me how she looks even cuter when she puts her hand on her hip & tilts her head). Retired from customer service & medical lab/hospital ER positions and loving it. Continue to work part time with musicians. Still, even at this advanced age, and on Medicare! (although in my head I still think I'm 17), very healthy (all the bad parts were taken out years ago). No drugs or alcohol (yes, EVER), & believe it or not, every day my life is a new, fun adventure! I love keeping in touch with family & friends, old & new, near & far; traveling; reading (my reading of choice--not usually novels, but pop culture and trivia books, books of maps, and, yes, encyclopedias, & medical books); dancing; & musi...Expand for more
c, music, music.
Music? Couldn't live without it. Fun & upbeat...if it's not fun, why bother? Anything else (political, negative, twangy, rap--which to me seems more monologue, spoken word, or some kind of performance art--introspective or mellow) doesn't quite DO it for me. Except for VERY few exceptions, music, movies, TV, etc have to be uplifting & FUN. If it's not fun, to me it's NOT entertainment! (just my personal preference--no judgments here--everyone should just enjoy what they like--but don't forget the fun).
I pretty much eliminate ANYTHING stressful in life (including all the negative news on TV, in newspapers, & in politics; and any serious, depressing, scary, violent, negative, 'so-called' entertainment) -- I DON'T DO STRESS. Grow up? Hahahahah--NO THANKS! I'll just continue to live here in Never-Neverland. That's why I continue to work with musicians on both coasts...it can keep a person young (or CRAZY) !
Favorite places in the world? Many places in: Italy (Venice, Florence, Rome, & the BEST--the Isle of Capri !), England; Greece's Temple of Poseidon in Cape Sounion, high on a cliff overlooking the sea; California (LA, San Francisco, Laguna, & the BEST--Carmel), and many towns, small villages, & hamlets across the US (been to 40 states).
My hero? Mae West. When she was 40, & everyone told her she couldn't make it in Hollywood if she was over 25 & not particularly attractive to standards of the day, she just said 'Ohhhhhhh . . . just watch me!' And that's where she truly made her mark on the world. Yes, she was campy like no one else, sassy, classy (in her own outlandish, eccentric way), & never cared what others thought of her. Now THAT's a good role model !
Ahhhh, yes...it's been a great life. Stay tuned--hopefully, there's MUCH more to come!
