Judith Maibie:

CLASS OF 1963
Long beach, CA

Judith's Story

Well, hello, all! To begin, and just keep it to general info, I was a camera-shy graduate in 1963, and I'm reaching out to find old friends and maybe some new ones at the ripe-old retirement age of 65. To those who may check in and remember me, I dropped out of sight rather quickly after graduation by moving to Cocoa Beach, Florida in July to join my older sister, four years my senior and already having moved there with a good government job. Although I was only 17 when I graduated, and lost out on a couple of really good job opportunities there, having been designated "jailbait" by the fellow at NASA who interviewed me, I landed my first job very quickly at a finance company. Didn't stay there long, since my sister and I decided to return to Long Beach in November of '63. We enjoyed out stay there, though, met and dated a few fellows...Expand for more
, and saw and heard my first missile launch at nearby Cape Canaveral. I found a job very quickly at another finance company in November (my first scheduled start day at HFC was the day of President Kennedy's funeral when they closed the office for the occasion) and met my future husband of 28 years there. I married him in 1966 and we proceeded to pursue his career goals and my "just jobs" and move around and about the country until our son, Chris's, birth in 1978, when we bought a home near Spokane, Washington and settled in for a longer stay to raise him. We stayed in that area for some sixteen years until our divorce in 1995. That's about all for now. I welcome and look forward to hearing from anyone who cares to renew an old acquaintance/friendship or cultivate a new one and hear about your lives and livelihoods as well. Godspeed.
