Judith's Story
Life
Living in England since 1985, we finally moved to Belgium in July, 2008. THIS year we retire and are coming back to Kentucky!
Three sons, all married, and all in Old Louisville.
I love working as a nurse in a village practice in England. National Health Service is a Good Thing!
Expecting our second grandchild in March, 2009. SHE will join her older brother in Louisville! I love this part of getting old.
School
I'd so do it all over again! Mr. Norris and the Humanities/Social Studies/History department was great. I often remember things from those classes even now. Art classes gave me an excellant groundwork and appreciation for the museums and places I visit here in England and Europe. It cracks me up that my dad and Buzz Norris are friends!
Science let me down as I couldn't make more than C and D in high school but did rather well on the ACT and finally gave up teaching to become a nurse. I'd been advised in high school that with my science grades I shouldn't try nursing or the medical field. I never made less than a B in any college science course (ok, a C in Chemistry.)

Tried teaching for a few years and knew I'd make a better stay-at-home mom. Actually decided to go to nursing school when my second child was 2. Jobs include waitressing, substitute teaching, Hospital Ward Clerk, staff nurse, nursing home, Home Health Agency nurse, Hospital Staff Nurse in Banbury, England, more substitute teaching (on American Air Force Base in England), and finally the last nursing job I will have which was a Practice Nurse in a GP office. ....No, it does not mean if I keep it up I'll finally get good at it, it is just the nurse that works in "The Practice." It's great, nothing like office nursing that I steered clear of in Owensboro in 1984.
Interspersed with all those jobs were periods of stay-at-home mom, travel agent, tour guide, B&B hostess and tour bus operator .........all unpaid, of course. You can't live abroad without knowing who your friends are!
But THIS SUMMER, I am coming home. Right now it looks like a condo in Louisville but we need a bigger place, about 3 bedrooms (2+ baths) and no basement and no stairs. Preferably over-looking water. Know of anything?
