In my generic life, I have learned I have a choice of sitting in either the compassion or judgement chair. My choice is to sit in compassion. So often we have little to no idea what another person has experienced in their life. We often have so little idea of the difficulties they endure. They wear their public faces. resent and let go of the past with its hurts and wounds. I believe we cannot really know and understand why people show up the way they do. I love what Maya Angelo said: "when we know better, we do better..." When we think someone is in denial, perhaps denial is the only way a person can manage their life. When a person is able to take in more and process it, then the veil of denial may lift. See people with compassion. They are doing what they can with the cards life has dealt them. Only a higher power knows and understands the why of human beings. Some have more inner strength to take on life's challenges than others. Being there for one another is such a gift. Life is fleeting. Savoring the moment and noticing each day's gifts with gratitude eases our way through difficult times. So often there is a silver lining and lessons to learn in the most difficult experiences. Seeing the patterns in our behaviors and electing to redirect and redesign our patterns is our choice. Noticing and detacting from dramas is like receiving a breath of fresh air. We have today. Who knows if we have a tomorrow. I have so much gratitude for the gifts and lessons life has given me the opportunity to choose to learn.".
