Judy's Story

Life It's time for Classmates to add Prius/hybrid to the kinds of vehicles we drive ~ and they still don't include options like word-math, Sudoku, and grave-hunting for entertainment; favorite outdoor activities while listening to favorite MP3 music mix, which for me is CivilWar/Nostalgia/EarthwormJim...which makes those who know me think I'm quirky-but-in-awesome-shape for a greatgramma...I just got 2 TRIKKEs! For being one of the oddballs who never planned a life, I've ironically had a very full one; and, altho' there are still a few people who think I'm dead because a sister-in-law with my same name died in 1976, I DO enjoy hanging out with dead people and am currently into helping organize an historic cemetery in which Editor/Sen/Gov Edmund Ross who is credited with casting the deciding vote to find Andrew Johnson not guilty on impeachment charges...BTW, that reminds that I personally dislike A. Lincoln for his treatment of the regular army during the Civil War and stood in front of his *bigness* on the Mall in D.C. to tell him so out loud ~ :-Þ ~ ...is buried. I consider my lifework to be the mommy/gramma of six kids spread over twenty years and eleven grandbabies ~ currently teaching my 8&6-year-old granddaughters to embroider so that the art doesn't fall into oblivion ~ who somehow fell into being a freelance editor and computer connection between military writer/commentator/most decorated living vet until his death in 2005 from Agent Blue exposure in Vietnam, David Hackworth, and American patriots of all statuses. This is how I finally became intimate with details of the Vietnam War, which I could not keep up on coincidentally with having my first four children. We were expecting my 5th child, Cameron, at our 20-year reunion. He is named half for our classmate, Jim Cameron, who was the only person I knew killed in Nam ~ the other half being the Martins are part of ScotClan Cameron. Our friends think it's odd that we...Expand for more
live in the city in New Mexico and the country in New York. But the head of our family is military and lives in neither place, which DOES make sense! He and I met through politics; and on top of the children, I had a puppet theater for ten years, won lots of sewing contests ~ thank you, Mom & Helen Funk ~ taught swimming and hatha yoga, have calloused fingers from still slinging mean dual batons, wrote the original theory paper on physical reasons for orgasmic dysfunction due to sympathetic nervous system damage rather than always being "in ones head," and am amazed on a regular basis to discover how many of my ancestors were in those history books I wasn't interested in back when we were forced to read them! I'll never regret not turning in a term paper in Mr. Tomasiewicz's history class as a silent, grade-lowering protest upon hearing others in class say they knew where to send away for already-written treatises WAY before the Internet, but I have redeemed myself simply by indulging the puzzle-solving talents God gave me and a curiosity about U.S. history that must've been passed by Grampa William Darby, eminent historian/geographer/cartographer of his post-War-of-1812 day. I've had more than my share of miracles, have met my Guardian Angel and have another one inhabiting my 22-year-old vehicle; and I'm deeply interested in what might be called the reincarnation of children killed in the Holocaust. Because of the current war, my husband got written into Japanese history as the ranking American officer working with them in their first military deployment ~ for humanitarian missions only, not as war-fighters ~ since the end of WW2; while I became able to trek around the country and photograph graves of ancestors, specific soldiers ~ currently working on members of Civil War's 154th NY from my 'home town' there, and those requested on FindAGrave that I stumble into. My 'now' picture was taken 20NOV2009. keepupthefight
