Judy's Story
Graduated from SHSU 1976- BS in Criminal Justice. Graduated UT at Arlington with Masters Degree in Social Work in 1980. Married in 1982, had two children, Justin-1984 and Shelby 1990. Divorced, remarried and divorced again. "Forget the marriage thing... staying solo".
Worked nearly 30 yrs. in my field at State School for MR and retired. Returned to work after my second divorce. Worked 2 yrs. at Mental Health Clinic, currently working as Caseworker working with foster children and trying to reunite families. ll do this one weekend a month. Plan to start teaching a group for family members who have family member or loved one who suffers with mental illness. This is a program through NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness). This will be my voluntary contribution. It is a 12 week course that will meet once a week to educate people about mental illness. So... I guess as far as my interests in working with people... I have stayed the course. Would be nice if one was compensated for their work in social services... but will settle for the personal satisfaction of maybe having helped someone who needed help.
