Judy's Story
Who am I?...I loved and supported our Football team throughout High School. I went to all of the games followed by everyone gathering at Pizza Hut afterwards for a great time of food and laughter! I was in Modern Dance my Junior and Senior year. ( pg 204 in our 72" Yearbook 2nd person from the right) Besides the academic aspect of High School., I had a great time being around a lot of fun, enthusiastic friends that were in clubs, committees, cheerleading and the like. I can remember being nominated for Sophomore Princess! lt was very exciting at the time! When I was just 16 years old. To be part of a host of other beauties. As a Sophomore I got asked by Tom Goode a Senior ( the captain of the Football Team) to go to his Senior Ball. What elation that was! Looking back, I remember the time. Because of Tom's bashfulness, he asked his fellow classmate Larry Larson to ask his brother Jerry Larson (whom was a sophomore like me) to ask me for him, if I'd like to be his date! Back then the whole scenario was sooo sweet and so exciting to get asked. Of course I said yes! He took me to the very posh Fire House Restaurant in Old Sac.! Too witness flaming Cherries Jubilee at 16 yrs. old was amazing! I had the time of my life that night...Boy I'm really going back now aren't I? lol Then as a Junior I went to my Prom with my boyfriend from Vallejo. I graduated mid term Jan. "72".
By the time I was 18 I knew in my heart of hearts I truly wanted to be a Mother...so I met a wonderful guy at my church that was 2 1/2 years my senior. We got married the following year. He was promoted to a Locomotive Engineer within 2 yrs. We resided in Roseville where he worked for Southern Pacific. After his promotion we moved to the Santa Rosa area, to be near his family. We went on to have 5 children. I lost my 3rd child at 5 1/2 months to Cystic Fibrosis. That was 36 yrs ago. I raised 4 healthy children. (2 boys & 2 girls) One son became a Computer Systems Engineer and the other an Architect. My daughters became a Homemaker and a Pharmacy Technician. I have 6 grandchildren, soon to be 8! In the 80's I got my Cosmetology License. Did acrylic nails for a few years, then specialized working in Spa Salons doing only Spa Treatments. Then in the 90's I got my C.N.A./ H.H.A. license (Nursing). I was a private Nurse. I loved caring for people, and bringing quality to their lives while they were in my care. I've even had the privilege to be with some of them when they drew their last breath. I was able to comfort and empathize with the family members. I feel like God had prepared me for this job. ly hard...then we can turn around and give back to others with the strength we've gained from having gone through the same trials...
A lot has happened since then. Thirteen years ago I had a complete Hysterectomy to remove a 3 month size benign tumor...Two years later my firstborn son died in 2005. He was 32 yrs.at the time. I've placed myself in a semi- retired position since. It just really knocked my feet out from under me! I'm a lot better now. I've spent the last 3 yrs. getting off the drugs they put me on for PTSD. I'm rejoicing this new year of 2015 because it's been 9 months now I've been drug free...It's taken nothing short of the grace of God to help me get off of those substances too! Now I can feel again all the beauty there is in this life. I do a lot of Volunteer work now.
During these past years of great saddness, there has been a silver lining through it all. My two youngest children had weddings in the year of 2007 & 2012 and they both gave me Grandbabies the following year! So I've spent lots and lots of time enjoying these new little one's. Then in the Fall of 2012 I got to go to Italy (where my oldest daughter lives with her husband and 2 yr .son.) I stayed for 3 months in their lovely home. Costabissara, Italy. It's in the mountains. Couple hours away from Milan and Venice. I had the most beautiful time there! With all the culture and all! I got to experience how the Italians live..with all their great homemade recipes and fine wine. The laughter and chatter... that comes from being with 12 female friends all around a big family stle table. Being served a homemade Italian meal, 8 courses in all. She spent 2 days cooking...unbelievable. (Like the movie "Moonstruck" with Cher only 100 times better ; )
Dec. 2014 and March 2015 my two daughter's each gave birth to baby boys! I will be going to visit her, the one in the states to help her with the new little one. I'm so excited!!
I haven't any complaints. When I was just a little girl growing up in Idaho, my Grandmother use to make different flavors of lemonade. She'd add a different fruit juice flavor each and every time. Never made just "plain" lemonade. So life as it were, has thrown several bowls of lemons at me... But I've been busy, trying to crank out as many flavors of lemonade as I know how! (chuckle) At that early stage of my childhood. My Grandmother didn't have a clue, she was showing me the best metaphor to live the rest of my life by...may she rest in peace. I've never got to make a Reunion, but God willing sometime I truly hope it works out. A "BIG" hello to my class of 1972. God bless you all!
