Judy's Story

Life The most important thing in my life is my family. I married a neighborhood guy who I met when I was 18. We've been together ever since. Married for 16 years with two beautiful children, we have a bright, athletic and outgoing daughter and a sweet, smart and hilarious son. We stayed in NY to be near our families. My parents still live in Queens. Two sisters are nearby. One lives in San Francisco, a fun place to visit. Overall, life has been good! School I moved from the lower east side of Manhattan to Queens when I was about 10 years old. School had already started and 3rd grade was a blur. I have very fond memories of P.S. 151 and can still sing the school song that Mrs. Prinzi taught us! Horace Greeley/JHS 10 was an amazing school during that time. We had amazing opportunities from cool shop classes, language classes and an awesome music program. Chorus, band and orchestra plus musical/plays! I remember writing for the Greeley Globe (which I called the Glob)! I had some great mentors during that time and grew close to Mr. Newman (who I remain close to today), Mr. B. in print shop (who is no longer with us and missed dearly). Mr. G - Ken Gartner was always surrounded by kids "his gr...Expand for more
oupies!" Ken is now actually married to my oldest sister!!! An amazing story! Then Bryant HS - wow I remember being really active and having a lot of fun but those HS days were just a blur! Things I'll never forget, gymsuits, Leaders initiation, and the BU! College I was fortunate to go to NYU! I was really lucky considering I had applied only because my sister June did and some of our friends. My sister and I commuted to school from Queens. Sometimes I regret not going away to school but all in all it worked out. I graduated with a bachelor's degree majoring in journalism and mass communications. My minor was History. I spent time in the radio station. While I loved NYU I didn't make the most of it. I was working part-time as a bank teller in Queens to put myself through school. Plus, meeting a guy the summer before I started college and falling head over heels for him put me out of the social scene at college. I'm sorry I didn't spend more time meeting people, enjoying the village and exploring the school more. In my senior year, I had decided to try Public Relations. Through the Journalism dept. I landed an internship that paved the way to a career that I'm still working in today.
