Judy's Story
What can I say about my life? I can start by saying that God has been so good to me! If you remember me from school, I was the loner because I always worried about what others said about me and that really did a number on my self esteem. But thanks be to God, I discovered many years ago that I am a child of God who was chosen by God and fearfully and Wonderfully Made!
My Family:
Today, I live in the great state of Minnesota with my husband Patrick and 2 of my four children Shawanda 24 (Student at the University of Minnesota), Michelle 23 (business owner in property management), Jessica 21 lives in Texas with her husband Jessie (student at Texas Women's college), and Kelvin 20 lives in Baton Rouge (business owner tree consulting). I now have two grandsons! Toby Malik Balagoun who was born on July 22, 2008 and Jessie Issac Turner who was born February 19, 2009 in Dallas. They are both as cute as buttons (of course I am just a bit biased!) I have a grand child due in August. It is a girl and her name will be Miya I also have three step granddaughters Jessica Leeshay Turner age 15 and Jerainiah James aka Ms. J. age 9, Grashawna London a.k.a Nemo age 15
My Career:
While residing in Baton Rouge, I attended Southern University where I received a Bachelor of Music Education degree. I taught choral music at the middle school level in the EBR school system until we relocated to Minnesota. ducation and Music Therapy. I now work as a music specialist in a school system here in Minnesota and very busy trying to get my therapy practice off the ground. My husband Patrick is also a graduate of Southern University (that's where we met). He received a degree in Electrical Engineering and works for a prestigious company here in Minnesota.
Something Interesting:
I found out that I was adopted when I was about 13 years old and vowed to find my biological family one day. In 2002, I located my biological mother who lives in Georgia. It was a good reunion for me. Especially when I found out that I have two siblings. Growing up as an only child, it was exciting to know that there were three of us all together. I have constant contact with one sibling and have not located the other but working on it.
Well, that's my story to God Be the Glory for the things he has done in my life. Be Blessed.
UPDATE: Miya Leigh Star Robins my youngest grand child was born on July 23, 2009 she is a cutie!
UPDATE: My husband and I moved home to Louisiana in July due to the illness of his mother. However, it has not been a good experience for us. Home is not what we remember too many people here and the job market sucks. Although we both have been fortunate enough to find jobs in our field, the pay is substandard therefore we are headed back to the place we called home for the past ten years Minnesota this summer. I will always love our home Louisiana but now it is a place to visit not to live and flourish.
