Judy's Story

9/2010 AK was beautiful. The weather was amazing: 68 and sunny everyday! The cruise staff and everyone I spoke to on shore said it was the best weather of the entire season. Of course I told them I brought it with me! We spent day in Vancouver walking in Stanley Park: amazing old growth forrest set aside by the barons who were getting mega wealthy cutting down all the trees. Ironic. Hiked in AK too. Beautiful but not that much different than other forests. However , I spent all my $ for a helicoptor ride and walked on the glacier. It was well worth it. WOW!!! It is something one has to do to understand. Now we are home enjoying sharing with our friends, and making application for volunteer positions in the national parks. Mike hopes to begin in the Everglades in December. I am so blessed and so happy I dreamed this adventure into reality After high school I married Thurman Green (Geo T. Green), Class of '61, who I dated all though high school and we moved to Dallas. George is an artist and we greaatly enjoyed the "art" life. We grew apart and divorced. as/Arlington area much of my life. After the ten years in the avante art world, I enjoyed a brief but amazing worklife in business world. It was exciting enough to kick me in the butt to get a degree. Good ole TX said women didn't do MBA. Now I have a hard time beleiving I was not feminest enough to kick and scream, but I enjoyed a wonderful career in social work. I began in St. Joseph hospital, Ft.Worth before moving to Phoenix where I got my MSW from ASU. I spent a few more years in hospital physical rehabilitation and oncology before going into private practice. I specialized in trauma, physical rehabilitation and women's issues. I was single for number of years and raised a wonderful son while working my way through college. If you have read this far, you are not surprised to hear me say women's issues and healthcare concerns are my hot issues. In 1995, I was thinking the best think that could happen next would be for my cardboard box to be outside the public library! Today I live in an amazing retirement community outside Tucson.
