Judy's Story

Life Hi- I'm back in Michigan after 10 years in California, 5 years divorced and continuing a new phase/chapter in my life. Drop me a line, I'd love to hear from any and all old friends/partners in crime. School Hmmm, my biggest crush? Hard to say. I had already met the man I was going to marry at age 11 so I (unconsciously) wasn't romantically interested in guys in high school. How about a guy I admired and liked? That would be Tim Mercier, who I thought was a wonderful person. Still do. I also admired and liked Sam Bitonti (great guy), Todd Sheldon (another great guy), Terry Davidson (ditto), Bill Kovach, Mark Totten, Dale Kaza, basically the guys who weren't working at getting in my pants. Favorite teacher? Mr. Berg, hands down. If I could do it over again, would I? You betcha. The same way? Yep. No regrets. Had the time of my life, and I did it my way. True to myself, my beliefs and values. You can't ask for more than that. College Did the community college thing, piecemeal, as my life would allow. Oakland Community for psychology and Spanish in the mid-eighties, College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, Ca. for English and Journalism. Still have much to accomplish. My dad died in October 1974 and I had to postpone college to work and help support my mother and 4 brothers. After marriage at age 21 and 3 kids, one with severe behavioral problems, my focus became my family. Do not regret that choice, did what I had to do and what was required of me. My practical education came from living and learning from the school of life, from helping my son, from solving problems and being open to new points of view and availing myself of professional assistance when needed. In 2007 I began college again and am one semester away from my Associate degree in Applied Science/Pharmacy Tech. Planning to pursue a Bachelor's degree next. Goals are to get my...Expand for more
teaching credentials to be able to teach pharmacy tech and further my career. Nursing is also an option. Also hoping to move back to California in a couple of years so I can be around my (future) grandchildren. My oldest son Aaron Michael is 30 and married to his sweetheart Tina since June 2006. Middle son Ryan is almost 25 and has been married to his wife Megan since March 2008. Both still live in the Los Angeles area. Daughter Caitlin is 22 and lives in Honolulu, HI with her Navy boyfriend Steve. They plan to marry soon. Onward and upward! Workplace Career. Always worked, mostly part-time while my kids were growing up. At one time after all my kids were in school I worked 3 part-time jobs. My varied and checkered work history included stints as a campus supervisor, clerical assistant, student aide for developmentally disabled students, and health aide for Castaic Middle School in Castaic, Ca., administrative assistant for a non-profit adoption agency in Los Angeles, food service cashier at Valencia and Hart and Canyon High Schools in Ca., Avon representative, manager at Curves for Women in Castaic,CA. Among my volunteer work at various schools and churches; teacher's aide, Sunday School teacher, religious education instructor, Confirmation facilitator, day-care worker, school newsletter editor, Marriage Encounter team member, Cursillo team member, Girl Scout/Boy Scout leader for 10 years, as well as the knowledge that one acquires from raising three children, conducting a 26-year marriage, and living for 53 years (so far). Successes, failures, compromises, lessons learned, hindsight, foresight, interaction with many different people from many different socio-economic backgrounds, ethnic ancestries, faiths, etc. has taught me tolerance, compassion, and has given me a wider world-view. My travels have also given me a more global perspective.
