Judy's Story

Life I have only made it to one reunion and now since they have combined classes of 1970 and 1971 but always have the reunion on the 1970 year, I may not make another one. However, I still have the class picture of the 1991 reunion. Wow, it's been 14 years since then since next year would be our 35th HS reunion. I may be the only one of the group of us who married in HS or shortly thereafter who is not married any longer. I married in March 1971 and we graduated in June. I divorced after 23 years of marriage in 1994 and have been single since. I had just graduated from college (June 1990) when we had our 20th reunion in 1991. My three children are: Charles (born June 7, 1971), Laura (born April 28, 1984) and Jacqueline (born August 17, 1987). Charles made me a grandmother on September 29, 2004 when his son, Chaz, was born. So even though I became a mother at 17 (16 days before my 18th birthday) I did not become a grandmother until I was 51 years old. I am a government employee currently working at Fort Polk, LA as a budget analyst. In 1994, about 60 days after my divorce, I became a budget analyst intern for the Air Force at Altus AFB, OK which is near Lawton, OK which is near Wichita Falls, TX which of course is only 90 miles from Mineral Wells. In 1997, I transferred to Fort Polk, to get my girls graduated from HS so I should be pulling up stakes in 2006, if not sooner. Since I married a soldier in 1971, I have lived in Georgia, West G...Expand for more
ermany, Florida, Washington, DC, Oklahoma (twice), the Philippine Islands, Alabama (twice), Indiana, and Pennsylvania, and now finally Louisiana (since my ex is from here). I only live about 90 miles from my kids and ex so it is no problem getting to their school activities. But since the baby is graduating in May 2005, I won't have that worry anymore. But can you believe I am seriously considering retiring in Mineral Wells since I can live very cheaply there. I left in 1971 and have not lived there since I guess I have deep roots. Although I became a budget analyst in 1994, I had already worked for the government in an administrative capacity (Secretary) for 16 years previously. In December 2004, I reached the 27-year mark but I need 30 years and age 55 before I can retire. But it is coming fast as we all know. My hobbies are mainly surfing the Internet (still at modem speed), reading (still), and traveling the highway. That's it for now; I may come back as the urge hits me to add more info (January 19,2005). College I started college at age 26 and graduated at age 36 and never lived in the dorm. I was married with children so I only attended at night. I attended 3 colleges over 10 years before graduating then attended 3 more after that for special courses or graduate work but never completed for a degree. I am seriously considering the alternative teacher certification by getting a masters in education even with a bachelors in business.
