Judy's Story
Don Kirson and I divorced after four years, but are still good friends. (I tell you this, because you're likely to ask if you knew either one of us at all!) We both remarried. My husband and I have been married for 30+ years. We live in the Denver area and had two boys (now men in their 20's) and Don and his wife still live in Southern California and have two daughters, also in their 20's.
After working in TV and radio news for five years, I switched to doing communications and community relations for local and state government in Colorado. Meanwhile, I wrote a vampire comedy (BLOOD TIES), which won several awards, was in print for 11 years, and was staged ...Expand for more
in theaters across the country. I took early retirement at 50 to concentrate on playwriting, but switched to writing children's and young adult novels.
My first novel, LOOK BOTH WAYS IN THE BARRIO BLANCO, took a second place in the 2016 International Latino Book Awards, and received various other recognitions. I'm on the verge of finishing my second novel. I've been fortunate enough to travel, and have the opportunity to volunteer in a variety of capacities with underserved populations.
That's the good stuff. I've had my share of struggles, too. Haven't we all? Life is what happens when you're planning something else!
