UPDATE April 29, 2011- Nick spent 200 days in St Louis University (60 days in ICU), was transported by ambulance to MVH Dayton on Feb 28. After 36 days he is now home. He remains in serious condition but we must wait for him to heal before his next surgery in Aug or early Sept. Original surgeon will come to Dayton to assist. His injury was blunt force trauma to the superiormessentaricVein. His upcoming surgery will be# 19. Thanks to ask of you for your prayers and support. Please keep us in your prayers...Blessings, Juletta My 28 yr old son, Nick was involved in an accident on a 'gator' (large golf cart type thing).... He was at the ATA GRAND in Sparta when the accident occurred. He was airlifted to the University of St Louis Hospital. The steering wheel impacted his abdomen below sternum. His injuries are great. He had a 4 1/2 hour surgery and 3 hour surgery the day of the accident for damage control..to stop hemoraging, Sunday the 15th Aug. Tues. they went back in and removed more of the large and small intestines; created a bypass thru the stomach; removed small portion on damaged pancreas then flushed his abdomen They approximated this surgery at 3 hours...it lasted 8 hours.
