My 28 yr old son, Nick was involved in an accident on a 'gator' (large golf cart type thing).... He was at the ATA GRAND in Sparta when the accident occurred. He was airlifted to the University of St Louis Hospital. The steering wheel impacted his abdomen below sternum. His injuries are great. He had a 4 1/2 hour surgery and 3 hour surgery the day of the accident for damage control..to stop hemoraging, Sunday the 15th Aug. Tues. they went back in and removed more of the large and small intestines; created a bypass thru the stomach; removed small portion on damaged pancreas then flushed his abdomen They approximated this surgery at 3 hours...it lasted 8 hours. His abdom...Expand for more
en has remained open since 1st surgery. Tomorrow, the 20th he will have his 4th surgery to flush, check progress ofii the connections begin closing the abdomen.
Yesterday, I asked his surgeon to be honest about his first assessment of Nick in the ER. He said he didn't think Nick would make it into the ICU. God is so good. When I think of my pain of seeing him the first time as he was being rushed back to surgery Sun night- I felt we had lost him. The pain was unbearable. He remains on life support.
I know it is prayers being raised on Nick's behalf that sustain us and will speed his healing. Thank you soooo much for the continued support! The following will give you updated info. nickaycock.dot com
Please put him on as many prayer lists as possible. Thank you so much!
