Julie's Story
After high school, I went to Alma College for two years and then transferred to EMU, where I got my BS in English and Drama. I taught at an all-girl Catholic School (Regina HS) for three years, and then in 1986, I started teaching English, journalism, and drama at Avondale High School.
As the years passed, I stopped the drama thing so I could have a life. I married Bob Gritzinger (Lake Orion High School Class of 1977) in 1991, and we...Expand for more
bought a house in Lake Orion and started a family. Our daughter Katie is 17, and our son Erik is 14.
After the kids were born, I realized how hard it was to be a good teacher and a good mom, so I went back to school for my master's in counseling. When I finished, Marsha Moore retired, and I was hired to fill her position. I have been a guidance counselor since 2000.
Bob is the news editor of AutoWeek Magazine, a Crain publication.
