Julie's Story

Currently, I am living in Waukesha and my main activities are work, a local club and my websites. As my primary source of income, I am currently working as a court researcher. I collect publicly accessible data for clients for their research and marketing projects. My main company I supply data to is Sunlark Research, a national research firm. I am also available for local companies or individuals who want Wisconsin real estate or tax lien data, but lack data entry or computer skills to get it themselves. I run two websites. My most current site, Speedy Hunter, is a simple directory site for those who like to find products and services on the web as fast as possible, but without typing and having to wade through many pages. The second site is for my club, The Milwaukee Time Lords, a local science fiction organization mainly devoted to Doctor Who. We meet twice a month to share our enjoyment of fun tv and movies. The year 2009 marks the 20th anniversary of the founding of our club August 1989. Check out our site Events page for meeting times and locations. I'd love to see 'closet' Who fans come to our meetings. We're funny and relaxed, but we're organized when it comes to the business of meetings and our newsletter. rched for technical work by starting with area industries until I found a HVAC manufacturer in 1990. A recession ended that in 1992. I went back to school, MSOE, to upgrade my computer and business skills. From 1995-1999, I worked as a computer programmer. From 2000 to 2001, I completed two contract jobs. After that I was back to office work through Adecco. Essentially, the IT "bust" of the late 90's hurt my IT career terribly, since I was never able to find a stable place to grow through the changes that occurred at that time. It wasn't until this self-employment opportunity came along when I finally found something I enjoy doing and can apply all my technical and office skills gained over the years. Plus, I can work my own hours and take off any day I choose. I just need to deliver data on a weekly basis. And, many of my regular expenses are tax deductible. Now, I enjoy science as an interest. I visit various science-based blogs and news outlets on a regular basis. I very much support good education for our kids. I have seen where various deficiencies in my experience led to problems down the road. MSOE helped to fill in some of the 'gaps' and regular online reading has helped in other areas. I hope kids today appreciate what they've got now. Don't don't give up! There's always a good place to be!
