Julie's Story
Life
I'm more into confessions than bios. ;-) In fact, my husband tells me I have a compulsive need to confess despite never having really done anything bad. So hereÂs my confession: I was miserable by the end of high school. I was so miserable that despite my apparent accomplishments and drive, I couldnÂt face graduation with all of you from whom I felt so isolated.
What I didnÂt realize then was that my greatest education and challenge during the coming years would be from lifeÂs struggles, all the highs and lows, the sad and happy events, the personal work and the relationship work  all that stuff that we all share in common. There arenÂt grades associated with all of this. You just learn to do your best with and for those you care about. Family and friends are the most important.
Forty years later I live in the Santa Cruz Mountains with my husband of 33 years, Ralph, and our current assortment of dogs and cats. We have a wonderful son and daugher, a son-in-law and a very special granddaughter (aren't they all?). We work for our...Expand for more
selves from our home and our biggest ongoing challenge is keeping our lives balanced between work and play. We do like to smell the roses on occasion and while we're not hippies, we also like to wear shorts and sandals a la Santa Cruz. I'm a bit concerned about the need to dress up for this reunion!
I've enjoyed being in touch over the past few years with my long time friend, Laurra Maddock (50 years of friendship!). Several years ago I also ran into Ellen Pyeatt at a graduation ceremony in San Jose, CA no less! I recognized her instantly when she entered the room. There seems to be an essence in all of us that just doesn't change! I enjoyed a remarkable mix of tears and laughter in reconnecting with both Laurra and Ellen. It just felt so good!
I further confess that I spied on the 1995 graduation by buying the video. I wasnÂt ready to be there myself, but I sure enjoyed eavesdropping! I now look forward to our 2005 Ramona Class of Â65 Reunion, ever hopeful that it will be an opportunity to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones.
