Julia's Story
Life
My life has been and still is just wonderful, and it's still happenning right here in Denton, TX.
My official job title is Mom. I have two great kids whom I love and like and look forward to seeing every day. Our life is a musical -- literally. It's just way too much fun. I just have to curb my tendency to get cracked up and put on the mom face when appropriate.
My wonderful husband, Michael, is a professor and administrator here at UNT. He is the associate dean for the College of Arts & Sciences. Through his job we have marvelous opportunities to meet interesting people and give our kids a wonderfully cultural and thoughtful world to which to grow.
Besides being Mom and Mrs. Dr. Monticino, I do have a pretty cool life of my own, at least for someone who has young kiddos, I think. I own and manage 17 rental housing units better than anybody, I think. I enjoy great relationships with all of my residents.
I enjoy reading, singing, communing with nature, traveling and learning new things every day. I have fun with life and the folks I get to share it with.
Michael's family have been members of the episcopal (anglican) church way back from merry old Englan...Expand for more
d for generations untold. Although I've never quite found my category in the area of religion, I do keep up the family tradition for our kids. We really enjoy the community service, social, and musical aspects of our church life.
Please let me encourage you to try to come to the next class reunion. I went to the 20-year reunion right after giving birth. I looked fat and homely as could be, but I had a wonderful time. Some of the most interesting conversations I had were with people that I didn't really even know in school. Sure, you'll see a few folks regressing back to those big meanie personalities they had in back high school; but for the most part, I promise you will be pleasantly surprised at how nicely most of us have grown up! So drag it on back home for the next reunion. They just get better and better. See you there!
College
I was in grave danger of becoming a lifetime student after taking classes and changing majors for 10 years just to get my bachelor's degree at UNT in 1992. I immediately enrolled in graduate school and got my MBA two years later. I think that may have almost cured me, but I am still a learning junkie.
