Julie's Story

Life My name is Julie Tyler, okay, now Julie Allison. WOW! Where to start? Where has the time gone? It's been a LONG time. After High School I attended Palomar College and Brigham Young University. My major was Psychology and Child Development. I really enjoyed it. Along the way I worked as an executive secretary. For the most part I really enjoyed this type of work. For the next 7 years I worked for an international bridge design firm based out of France. I think this was probably my most interesting job. I met people from all over the world as well as enhancing my skills. This was a great opportunity for me. I got married at the age of 29 to Bruce Allison from San Diego He went to Crawford High School. We met at a church dance. Now, thats a funny story! We dated for a little over a year and then got married. I was an instant mom to a darling 6 year old boy. For the most part he has been a great kid. Well that darling little boy is now 22 years old. Okay I'm old! Time has just flown by! I worked outside the home professionally as an executive secretary until Sept. of 1997. Bruce and I became foster parents in 1997 and immediately recieved a sibling group (boy and girl)who were at the time 2 and 4 1/2. Three years later we wound up being able to adopt them. What a blessing they have been in our lives. We love them SO much! Bruce and I decided we were going to close out our license as foster parents. We were tired of living under the microscope of the "system". Guess what? Yep, we recieved a call regarding another sweet sibling group (boy and girl) who were 5 months and 2 years old. About three years later we were able to adopt them too. They are now 6 and 8 years old. Okay, you do the math. We now have 5 children. Our foster license has been closed out for...Expand for more
good! Our house is full. L.O.L. I have been a stay at home mom now for 9 years. We feel so blessed!!! I won't say it has been easy but oh so worth it. All four children were drug babies. They are now all healthy and strong and doing well. We feel very fortunate that they are all very smart and do not suffer from any affects of the drugs. Our youngest had the most difficult time. She was born addicted to meth. I'm glad to report that she is sharp as a tack and oh so precotious! I don't miss working outside of the home at all. I miss my friends I had there but not the politics that goes on in the work place. The kids keep me young and hoppin! We all keep active with church, piano, sports, hiking, skiing, camping, swimming, beach and various other activities. Trust me there is never a dull moment. I lived in Poway for 33 years. I can't even believe it myself. My husband received a job offer with his current employer to work up in Salt Lake City. We decided that we would take the leap. We now live in Lehi Utah and love it. We are now closer to both of our families. Since High School both of our families have basically migrated to UT or that area of the country. We have always said we would never live there and that we would be the last hold out. We were indeed the last hold out! We are eating some serious crow and loving it. I love to ski! I'm able to drop the kids off at school and head up the canyon for a few hours and back just in time to pick them up. Life is good! It's beautiful!!! There were many of you that I saw at the 20 and 25 year reunion. It was fun seeing all of you. I look forward to seeing you at the 30 year reunion too. Well thats about all for me and mine. I'd love to hear from any of you. I really enjoy keeping in touch with friends.
