Julie's Story

I've been married 41 years this June, and we have two daughters - Katie (37) and Carolyn (35) both have graduated from law school and practice law with me!! Katie is married, and we are proud grandparents to two darling grandsons! Carolyn married 4 years ago and moved to Wisconsin, but works for us remotely! How did this happen?!! I graduated in ‘76 from UNM with a degree in teaching. I taught up in Jemez Springs for 2 years and 1 year in Albuquerque. Next, I actually got a job teaching at an American Air Force Base in Germany. After three years there, I married an Air Force officer (he was a navigator in F4 jets). He was then stationed at Homestead AFB, in Florida, so I moved there and I taught one more year. Thanks to his support, I went to law school at the University of Miami! I graduated in Jan. ‘86 - and then moved to George AFB in Calif. for two years, where I was a deputy district attorney for San Berndadino County. After that, he was re-stationed at Kirtland AFB, in Albuquerque. We lived there...Expand for more
from 1988-1993. I practiced law there with a firm for 2 years and then with my dad for 3 years, until my husband was re-stationed to a NATO base in the Netherlands for three years! I traveled and substitute taught at the NATO school while there. My husband retired in 1996, and we moved to his hometown in Starkville, Mississippi. I was a sole practitioner for 17 years, and Katie joined me as my partner in 2012. Carolyn was sworn into the Bar Sept. 2015, and joined us! It's a great small town and we specialize in real estate, wills, trusts and probates, right on "Main Street." My mom died in 2011, and my dad passed in December 2014. We sold the house on Moon Street in March 2015, after going through the awesome contents. My sister, Jenifer, and brother, Jordy, still live in Albuq. My brother, James (Jim) passed away (cancer) in 1987. I come home to Albuq. at least once a year - In the fall or New Year’s. I stay in touch with Sharon Riley, who lives in Montana, and my best friend is still Nancy Arnold!
