Life
Still playing guitar for over 20 years...Now well known for leaving Terra Nova High School to become the Music Instructor at Capuchino High School. Recipient of the J. Russell Kent Award for 2007 by the San Mateo School Boards Association. Is proud to be the recipient of the first Pacifica Community Television Channel 26 Education Star Award (2006). Currently writes for solo projects when on hiatus. Active Member: ASCAP, MENC, CMEA. Gear: 2006 Fender American Standard Stratocaster, 2007 Fender Steel-String Acoustic (cheap), 1985 Squier Stratocaster, 2001 Line 6 Flextone II HD Bluesbreaker 2 X12 Cab Combo, Line 6 Floorboard, Line 6 POD 2.0, Epiphone Nylon String Guitar, Pro Tools LE and Garageband, M-Audio Keyboards and Interfaces (random) Power Mac 800 Mhz, Mac Intel Core Solo with 1 GB RAM. Little known fact: work is stopped whenever I run out of Coca Cola or Kool Aid. Cottrell prefers to cook, watch movies or make music WHENEVER he can, and gets bored easily, which causes him to look restless a good part of the time if he isn't doing what he wants. Do not easily interpret this as nervousness though. This restlessness is a part of what makes him tick. sh style and bull-in-a-china-shop sensibility have had people compare him to John Belushi, but he hates that comparison because Belushi was fat and died of a heroin overdose, and Cottrell is neither an obese person nor a drug addict (a little on the hips these days though.) The restlessness has been known to also get him in trouble with his wife on occasion, but he is proud to shout from the rooftops that he has been married for over ten years because she's so awesome. He is also a dedicated father to his two young girls, 5 and 3, and declares that because of them, he will never be alone again (however, he is comfortable by himself, sometimes SCREAMING for alone time, which most of those close to him cannot proclaim about wanting alone time for themselves.) Another trait to Cottrell is that he has a love/hate relationship with his past and letting go of certain aspects of it. He becomes obsessed with his past in spurts, and, after looking at his past, knowing that high school was not the best time in his life is what gives him the confidence to move forward. He feels that things happen for a reason, and strength is determined from how well you deal with the situation posed in front of you. He currently lives in Morocco with his wife Carcamo and his daughters Guadalupe and Rose.
