Justin Speasl:

CLASS OF 1993
Painesville, OH

Justin's Story

Well where to start? After graduation, I left for boot camp in August that year (1993). After four and a half years, I left active duty and lived in eastern North Carolina with my Ex-wife(we were dating at the time) for two years. She graduated grad school and took a job in Oregon and hence we moved out there. A few years later, we ended up going our separate ways as couples do more and more often. Hell, it's cool to be divorced now-a-days, right? Anyway, I got on as a manager with a little know shipping company called RPS. Which is now known as FedEx Ground. Cool, huh? During this entire time I have been in the Marine Reserves but not drilling, it gets complicated... but in late 2003 after the start of Operation Iraqi Freedom, I made a decision to start drilling again. (ya know, one weekend a month, two weeks a year...Expand for more
thing). And this past year I was recalled to go into harms way and left for Iraq last August. The seven months I spent there was some of the most challenging and the most rewarding experience in my life so far. I have not one career, I have two. One with FedEx Ground and one with the Marine Corps. To say the least life gets kinda hectic. I still reside in the beautiful state of Oregon where I have great friends, a condo (I don't have time for yard work), a cat, and two careers. Since I've been out here, I have picked up the sport of snow boarding and have gotten pretty damn good. Mount Hood is less than an hour drive to go boarding for me. And I have ran a marathon about three years ago, simply want to do it again. Just gotta stay in shape. Well that's it for right now my fingers and my brain hurt from all this typing.
