KENNETH FARMER:  

After graduation, went down to Nacogdoches, and entered Stephen F. Austin in the Fall of '71... First time "away from home" and was more interested in partying, than doing well in school...At the same time, I was still corresponding with my longtime girlfriend up in Minnesota...Hitchhiked, up there in the late Fall of '71, for Thanksgiving...We decided to get married, and she came back down to SFA with me and we got a tiny little place near campus...I tried to continue with school...but was totally distracted from that task...Went to work at Lufkin Industries, and went to school part-time...The next year in Feb. we had our firstborn, Kenneth Jr...Moved to "married housing" on campus and things were a little better...But decided to go into the Air Force, to get the GI Bill funding... After my hitch, got out, and since I was discharged in Florida, went right to the University of Fla. where I worked like a dog, and went both part-time, and full-time, by that date, we had 3 kids...and I remember taking my youngest to class with me...I'm still sooooo proud that Frankie would just sit there and color in his color books...He was quite the charming little 4 year old...and a total hit with the ladies...which con...Expand for more
