Kameron's Story
Outline of my life.
June 6, 1968 I graduated from Aberdeen High School. I got engaged to Marcia Rutan but we broke up in April 1970. I went to Mexico to study Spanish the summer of 1971. Fell in love with Patty Cabeza de Vaca. We got married in March 1972. Graduated from the U of Washington Dec 1972 with a BA in Spanish Lit with a secondary teaching certificate. There were no jobs teaching Spanish so we moved back to the Harbor to work with my family.
I joined the Navy Jan 1975, attended Aviation Officer Candidate school in Pensacola, FL and was commissioned an Ensign in June. I earned my "Naval Flight Officer" wings May 1976. I was assigned to Patrol Squadron 16 in Jacksonville, FL for 3 years flying the P3C Orion submarine hunter. I was deployed to Iceland and twice to Sigonella, Sicily.
My first daughter, Cynthia, was born in Jacksonville in 1976. I was reassigned to the Naval Aviation Schools Command in Pensacola for 3 years teaching management to newly commissioned officers and others. My second daughter, Juanita, was born here in 1980. I received my Masters in International Relations in Dec. 1982 from Troy State University, Alabama.
I was reassigned to Antarctic Development Squadron Six in Pt. Mugu, CA in 1983 flying in the C-130. I was trained as a Polar Navigator and was deployed to Antarctica twice. I was released from active duty in 1985 and joined the Navy Reserves. I did 10 years of reserve drills with Pat...Expand for more
rol Squadron 69 in Whidbey Island, WA (P3s) and retired from the Reserves in 1995.
We moved to Sandy, OR in 1985 and again I worked for MAR Hook, Inc., the family business, which had moved from the Harbor in 1978. I was re-certified to teach in Oregon and substituted in many of the local high schools as well as Portland State University. I left the family business again in 1992 and accepted a position as a technical writer with a computer software firm. I trained myself as a computer programmer with this company, which held contracts with the Bonneville Power Administration (BPA) among other companies. We moved from Oregon to Vancouver, WA in 1995. I left this company in 2005 and became an employee of BPA. Patty and I were divorced after 37 years.
I subsequently married Rosalie (Jenna) Brown in November 2009. I should have done that years ago! I retired from BPA February 23, 2013. Rosalie and I RV'd for three years before buying a home in Pahrump, NV.
Cynthia gave birth to a daughter, Josalyn in 2000, and Juanita gave birth to a son Alexander in 2008 and a daughter Penelope in 2010. Rosalie's children are Staci Machac (1970) and Justin Brown (1973). Her granddaughter Crystal gave birth to our three great grandsons Owen in 2009, Leland in 2011, and Reign in 2022. Our grandchildren on Rosalie's side are Cody (1982), Ella (2005), Nora (2010), and Kai Brown (2013) and Crystal Machac (1990) and Courtney (Machac) Erle (1999).
