Kandy's Story
Hi everyone.....Well not much to say. I've been married for 30 years and just recently divorced. I've got 3 kids and no grand kids. :( I'm patiently waiting though. I still have a daughter in HIgh School believe it or not. A total accident at the age of 39, but quite a blessing. She's my little scholar. Far different from me, if most of you remember me. I live in Arkansas now at the foothills of the Ozarks and absolutely love it. I've been here since I was old enough to leave Kansas City. I still correspond with a few people on facebook. Wanda, Roberta, Mona, and Connie Huff to name a few. I never went to college, but really did anyone expect that of me. I was too busy partying. I did finally get all that out of me and have been rewarded with a wonderful life. My marriage wasn't so great but I stuck in there regardless and he decided to leave. So be it. I'm starting a new now at this tender age of 56 and enjoying every minute of it. I worked in Hotel and Restaurant Management most of my life and now I'm retired and live peacefully in the country with my rat terriers that I enjoy raising and making an extra dollar or two. I even have chickens and I tried rabbits for a while but when the marriage fell through, I wasn't the one that could clean them so I gave that up. My oldest son lives in Butler Missouri and is in management, my middle son lives down here in Arkansas and works with the Oil companies. There's lots of drilling down here for natural gas and everywhere you look you see a gas well. Makes you wonder why gas costs so much, since it's so plentiful here. Oh well, same ole politics, and anyone that remembers me knows that I was a very political person and voiced that opinion sometimes too much. lol I miss everyone terribly, and maybe I'll get to the next reunion. I hope this finds everyone healthy and happy and have led productive and fruitful lives. Best regard,
Kandy Long

I always wanted to be a lawyer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a good idea. As it turns out, they were just wishful thinking. .
I love gardening and landscaping. It makes me feel as though I have created something. I also love to fish and visit the mountains. Both pacifying to me.

d any scholarships, and I just don't think I could have worked my way through 8 years of college. I probably had the brains, but surely not the brawn..
If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have breaks, good people around me , and a watch! to be able to deal with the day-to-day.
My hero is definitely my daughter. She is growing up to be much more than I ever expected. She will go very far in life. She is my best friend and soul mate and I couldn't be prouder.
The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Wanda Mansfield, because she is like a sister to me and is still there when I need her..
My obsessions of course are The Kansas City Chiefs. I never miss a game. I hate reality tv. Reminds me too much of soap operas. Once again, my rat terriers are the love of my life next to my children.
If I could improve my home, I'd remodel everything and add on a back patio. My dream home would be log home.
I've learned patience from my children. They are all blessings to me and have been the greatest kids anyone could ask for. They have not caused me one ounce of trouble, unlike me. I feel sorry for my Mom and the things she had to put up with, with me. lol
If I won $100 million, I'd give half of it to cancer research, then spend the rest on my children,, my friends and the bank.
My current age is 56. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be very consertative. I was so completely wrong.
I am finished with my career. I've been retired for 6 years.
My best friend would tell you I'm crazy, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as down to earth.
I keep up with the times, so I can be the cool Mom. My daughter and I wear the same size so it's pretty easy. Yes I wear skinny jeans.
I share my home with my daughter, which I find a little crowded sometimes..
I have trophies from my children and the accomplishments they have made throughout their life. They've made me very proud.
In 10 years, I hope to be happily married. I'm going to get there by taking applications on all men that I meet.
My oldest friend is Wanda Mansfield Benefiel. We met in school, dated brothers, and always cared deeply about each other. I don't think we ever had an argument. Her Dad was like my own. I love her to death.
My first job was at Smak's, where I got paid 1.10 per hour to run the register. What I remember most about it is it was a big State Ave. hangout..
My years playing softball. Those were the fun times.
