Karen's Story
After I graduated from Annandale, I went to William and Mary, where I majored in Economics. I met my husband Tim McPherson there, and we married the summer after college graduation. We went to Charlottesville where Tim went to Law School, then we came back to Fairfax where Tim practiced law for 27 years. I got an MA and PhD in government at Catholic University and worked in DC for a while, then became a high school government and history teacher. We have two children -- Lori, an attorney with the Justice Department, and Kevin, a psychiatrist married to an OB-GYN, living and raising our two grandchildren in Columbus, GA. m George Mason University in the 1990s, and we moved to Williamsburg, VA, in 1998. where we both taught school. We both retired in 2012 and are enjoying a very active and fun retirement.
In retirement, I've done a deep dive into genealogy. I discovered that I have ancestors in 11 of the 13 original colonies before the American Revolution (only Delaware and George didn't make the cut. I've published about a dozen family history books based on the entries in this blog..
