Karen's Story

I went to Amar Elementary, Sparks Jr High and LaPuente highschool in California until my Junior year when my dad moved our family to Mansfield Texas so he could go to the Seminary. I was on the drill team in LaPuente, but I didn't try out in Mansfield. I left some good friends behind in LaPuente, but made some very good ones in Mansfield. I moved back to California 6 mo after graduation & got married to Mike, who I had dated for a 1 year before we left. We kept in touch that entire 2.5 years I lived in Texas. 29 years later, he is still the love of my life and I thank God for him (most days lol!) I have a daughter and a son, now 21 & 23. No grandkids yet! (knock on wood!) I have been a visual merchandiser for Target for 27 years. I think back to my short time at Mansfield with fondness. Good friends,& good teachers (Mr. Jones!) I encourage friends to email me at robres()roadrunner.com. I always wanted to be a artist when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a great idea. As it turns out, they were supportive, but i wasn't motivated..I can't seem to stay interested in any art project for very long.. My favorite way to relax is to spend an afternoon shopping with my daughter. I also love the beach and spend as much time as I can there. I wasn't the "wild child" in school. I don't know how to describe myself. I wasn't popular, but not unpopular either, I was just happy to have a group of great friends to hang with. I was best friends with Sandra Lerud from kindergarten- sophomore year of high school. We were inseparable. We still keep in touch. At Mansfield, I consider Cam Moody and Dianne Arseneau to be my best friends. Sadly we have lost touch. ...Expand for more
My inspiration and heros are my mother and father. We never went without anything, but we didn't have everything we wanted either. We did have a Mom and Dad who obviously adored each other. What a gift to give to your children! I strive every day to have in my marriage what they have in theirs. I have only lived in 3 places since I got married. The first 2 in an older apartment building where my elderly neighbors would invite me over for camomille tea and then 3 years in a duplex in an awful neighborhood. Thats where we saved for our first home. We were the first owners of our home and will probably live here forever. Its a tiny home in a nice neighborhood and I love it. I only have 8 more years and it will be all mine! The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is Cam Moody, because she was a friend to me when I needed one the most.. I love cats and my Dollee is my favorite. She doesn't shed! Amazing. What I've learned from my kids is that no matter what you do, they are going to be their own persons. All you can do is love them, and I do! My favorite teacher was at Mansfield, Mr. Jones from art class. He gave me a confidence in my art that I didn't have before. He was an amazing artist as well as a great teacher. What happened to my first crush? I married him. My mantel and attic are full of trophies. My husband spent the first 20 years of our marriage racing amateur motocross. A few years back, he broke his ankle very badly, so he sold the new motocycle and bought a mountain bike that he rides almost daily in our nearby foothills. Well, my story is kinda boring and I don't know if anyone ever fills out most of the story wizard, but I did. :)
