Karen Bucala:  

UMass Amherst grad "69 - B.S. in Public Health Married George Bucala in 1969 and joined the Lutheran Church(ELCA). We have lived in Western Mass. for almost 40 years. Gave birth to Janice 1973 and Brian 1977. They each have 1 child, thus we are happy grandparents!! I began teaching in the fall of 1969 in Easthampton -- health education in the middle school for 20 years and another 10 years teaching half-time in the high school and the other half of the time as Health Coordinator for the entire district. After 30+ years, I had to retire on ordinary disability due to severe spinal arthritis. I was ready to teach ANOTHER 10 years but my body decided against it! In my retirement, as well as before, I have been very active in my church serving in almost all church council positions at one time or another. In the last few years, we developed and I now facilitate a Grief Support Ministry. This fall I look forward to co-leading a book group. Have you read "The Shack"??? Try it, you'll like it.
