Karen's Story
update mar 3 2012:
I have graduated from Everest on line and didn't know what I was going to do with my AAin business management still do not really know. I had some health scares the end of Dec. 2011, I thought do I really want to die in my early 60's or be unhealthy for the rest of my life like my mom was in her last years. I didn't really care or give it much thought be fore the health scares. Not once but twice I found a note My mother wrote to me a year before she died (2007), it was still hanging on the air glider she used. She said:
"Karen, Because I love you and want you to live a long and healthy life,PLEASE use this at least 20 minutes a day. All my love,
MOM
I knew about the note when she first wrote it I just shrugged it off and ignored it because I was healthy and didn't think I needed to use that air glider at the time, I was in school full time and working 40 plus hours a week and taking care of Mom and didn;t really have the time to use that air glider.
the middle of Jan 2012 I contacted John Schnider Teamrippedduke.com and asked about his fitness programs, in Beach Body and he contacted me and I got started on a fitness program. I have since lost 15 pounds and lost over all 21 inches since the middle of January. I have never seen any program work so fast as this program has,and I am only 4 weeks into it. and I can really eat real food. I feel better have more energy and have a new out look on life. And I have met the nicest people in challange group one can ever meet they all have the same goal in mind getting into the best shape of their lives no matter the age or health issues they have and are over comeers.
And Yes my coach is none other than John Schnider alias Bo Duke(of Dukes of Hazzard tv show).

I sure do not know where the years went except fast. I have been on missiion trips to Honduras in 88 and Mexico in 96. Most of the time after graduation I worked at Harry and David three months shy of 36 years. until 2006 when my manager demoted me because some one told her, I got dumb looks on my face and they didn't think I know what I was doing. dn't have a better excuse, to use for demoting me. This when I decided to go back to school and get some sort of degree. I had enough of the backbiting and stabbing. I enrolled at Everest Online and a month later was hired on at Amys Kitchen as a Kitchen Quality Assurance Technition for more money than I made at Harry and David during the 35 plus years I worked for them. It has been almost three years since I started working for Amy's Kitchen ans i love my job it't better than any job I held prior to it. I have one more term and I will have my Associates Degree in Business (Oct 3, 09). It has been both rewarding and tough going back to school at 56. I would not recomend going back to school at 56, because it's harder the older one gets, the brain does not soak up the information as quickly or easy after twenty something,according to a psycology class I had to take a while back. I tell any one that is young to get their education done early in life because it is much harder to do it when you wait until after one is 35.
I tell them because I waited too long I could not go into the career that I really wanted to specialize in and that was some kind of crimionalogy or investagation. There is not enough
time to develope a high paying career at this point due to the short amount of time I have left before I retire in about eight to ten years.
I have no children but I have 2 cats and 2 dogs one cat and dog I inherited when my parents passed away and a malteese/Peeka-poo and a chocolate simeese mix or maybe she is a purebred I am not sure she was a barn cat whem I got her 14 years ago.
I am looking forward to seeing my classmates in August at the 40 year reunion.
School Story: I was very much a shy introverted person and didn't have many friends. I could tell anyone who asked me who my classmates were by name. Though I knew many I didn't really get to know them personaly. I sat on the side lines and watched(I have always been a people watcher. I got that from my dad when we would take mom to the store, while mom did her shopping;Dad and I would sit in the car and watch people, my dad could read peoples actions to a tee he was very rarely wrong. My dad taught me how to read people and it has helped keep me out of hot water especially in my younger years.
