Karen's Story
Life
Born in Deerfield, moved to Alliance when 13, thankfully!!! Married (second time) in 76, moved to Canton, worked in Aultman Hospital Pharmacy, son born in 1979. Husband transferred by employer, american electric power, to Columbus in June 1984. Moved to Pickerington, suburb of Columbus. Still in same house. Soon to be ex left in 2002. Have worked for the city I live in for 18 years. 10 as police, fire, ems and 9-1-1 dispatcher then transferred to City hall as the shift work was becoming a drag, although I loved the job of dispatching. Currently on loan long term to the police dept., working in police chief's office. Son now 25, safe from the draft! I know it is no longer there, but in case they reactivate it, he is safe, unless they change the age llimit. He works for a Columbus radio station, audio and imaging director. Also assists the tv station his employer owns. Very successful in his field. Am biding time until divorce is final, then plan to move on with my life. One more thing, I just don't understand how I can possibly be 55! Update: June 2006. Divorce is final, house is sold and have purchased another. Move...Expand for more
in date is in a few days. My son got married last summer and I now have a great daughter in law. Finding it hard to believe that our 40 year reunion will be next year. Planning to become a member of Classmates soon. Have not been to any of the reunions and want to attend the 40th. Have been away from Alliance for a long time, although get there often as have 3 sibs and family still living there. Hoping to be able to reconnect with a few classmates once I become a member. I imagine we have all changed a bit. i know I have.
Update March 2010. Now been with my employer for 23 years, no longer on loan to PD, now on long term loan to planning and zoning. guess this is what happens when you have been there so long, the city manager loans me to whatever dept, is in need. Keeps work interesting at least. Son and his wife moved in Cincinnati in 2006, now in process of divorce. No kids and thats a blessing, they were not a good match for each other. Son works in a bank, does some DJ and remixing when he can. Life is good, other than the fact that I am now on the downhill side of lifespan, as I highly doubt I will live to be 122.
