Karen's Story

Hi! My married name is "Amantea." I guess, if anything, I was known for my style and my ability to sew. I'd sew my own clothes and worked in an upscale clothing store. I sewed my own graduation dress - a gold lame ball gown. Mr. Cameron and Mrs. Woitas, were my favorite teachers. My best friend at St. Francis was Kelly Hanrahan. I have one amazing grown son - he's played hockey all through the ranks in Calgary and currently attends the University of Anchorage Alaska, on a hockey scholarship. I enjoy rock c...Expand for more
limbing, ice climbing, skate skiing, triathlon, marathoning, hiking and mountain biking. I live near Victoria, and fill my days with hobbies and exercise, as even in the winter, the temperature is so mild you can be outside in the rain (and it does RAIN most days from November to March). I can't believe that it's been 30 years since we rocked the halls of St. Francis! I can still smell the Ralph Lauren 'Polo' cologne, down at the far end of 'B' hallway ; ) Cheers to you all, please keep in touch with me. Karen

Remnants of an old pier sticking out of the ocean. You can see the fog bank in the background.

Logs with massive ropes that had escaped from a boom are now driftwood on the beach. You can see the steam rising from them as the sun evaporates the moisture.

Not my dogs, but too funny!
Truly, I'm not sorry to see this year go. Come on 2018! We've all learned lessons from '17 and seen the unbelievable become reality. But, despite the hardships, brave voices were heard, listened to en masse and many po
