Karen's Story

Life Hello, my name is Karen Kramer Hickox. I moved to Nashville, TN in 1970 to attend David Lipscomb University. I met my husband, Jack, in Nashville in 1974 and we married on May 28, 1977. Jack had 2 daughters by a previous marriage, Laurie, who is now 35 and Denise, who is now 34. We had one daughter together, Heather Leigh Hickox who is 20 years old. We have 4 grandchildren, Josh who is 14, Jacob who is 12, Rachel who is 11 and our newest arrival, baby Hannah who is just 9 months. In 1983, my husband Jack, was killed in a car accident in Nashville. He was 36 years old and our youngest, Heather, was just 2 yrs....Expand for more
old at the time of his death. I raised Heather alone, and think I did a pretty good job thanks to my leaning on the Lord for guidance every step of the way. We attend Hendersonville Church of Christ. I have worked for the past 20 years for Nortel Networks, which is a Telecommunications firm. For most of those years, I worked as an Executive Assistant and am currently working with the Purchasing Dept. as an Expediter. I love Nashville. It's a beautiful place to live, but most of my family still lives in Sacramento so I still think of it as my home. I have very fond memories of my days at Elk Grove High School.
