Karen's Story
Life
I have two children. My son, Rodney (Wilber) Nordstrom, and daughter, Christine (Wilber) VanderHill, both attended and graduated from Grand Blanc High School. I've been married twice. I am currently married to my second husband who is from the Upper Pennisula. I live in Atlas Township. My mother passed away in 2004. My dad still lives in Grand Blanc. My baby brother Keith was killed in August 1986, who as most of you know attended and graduated from Grand Blanc class of 1971. My brother Bob graduated in 1968 and has two daughters, Becky and Dee Dee who also graduated from Grand Blanc in 1991 and 1993. I was in band as a majorette and sang in the choir, and I still have my batons but, only sing in the shower or with my 3 grandchildren while riding around in one of my Mustangs. I go quite often to our beach house in St. Ignace right by the "Mackinac Bridge", where my husband is from. I usually take my 2 grandsons because they love it up there, but, my grandaughter doesn...Expand for more
't like to go because of the long drive. It's one of the most beautiful places on earth with that awesome "bridge", I never get tired of crossing it or being in awe of it's grand structure or beauty. But I also love living here in Atlas too, as its so much quietier than living in Grand Blanc and so much friendlier. I never have missed high school and never have attended any of the reunions because there were so many unfriendly kids and snobs, and just where are they now? I don't think any of them have become rich and famous or at least not to my knowledge have they? All the ones I've run into look old and are still not friendly. But, then I've run into some old friends and they are just the same as they were then, friendly, full of life and fun to be around and to share memories with. Now those are the classmates I love to remember from good ole '69. Sadly my Dad died April 29, 2009 at his residence on Schram St. in Grand Blanc and I miss him terribly.
