Karen's Story

Graduated as a secondary ed major from University of Maryland in 66. Joined United States Navy as officer. Stationed at Lemoore Calif Naval Air Station as personnel officer for squadron VA125. Met and married my husband, Navy A-4 pilot, promoted to Lieutenant before leaving Navy to return to teaching. After my husband returned from VietNam, we lived in California, Nevada, and then to Anchorage. I continued to ...Expand for more
teach as he continued to fly commercially. I earned 2 masters degrees (English and Special Education ) and a doctorate in Education in the 40 plus years of teaching high school, middle school (my favorite) and finally graduate school the final 14 years. We have traveled to China, Europe and all over the US plus explored most of this huge state. That has to be done by small plane as there are few highways in Alaska !
