Karen's Story
I feel like I should write a book to tell my story. I am retired now and living in Jerome with my husband, Larry. Jerome has really changed since our high school days. It's become a wonderful little town with a big sense of community, and I love walking after dark with no fear of being harmed. After high school, I attended NAU for 1 year, but it was way too cold so I transferred to ASU where I received a B.S. in Business Finance. Imoved to Las Vegas and worked as a stockbroker for E.F. Hutton. I quit working to raise my two children, Brent and Leigha (Brent is in the profile picture with me). When the kids started school I went back to school too. I attend the University of Nevada, Las Vegas and received a MS in Counseling. I worked for awhile in a domestic crisis shelter, and in UNLV's Career Servies before finally going to work for the Clark County School District. I retired 6 years ago ...Expand for more
after being a high school counselor in Las Vegas, Nv and my husband retired 3 years ago from American Airlines after being a pilot for them for 30 years. Gosh, we sound old. I have two kids; Brentwho is 26 years old who just was married 9/10 to a wonderful girl, and my daughter Leigha who is 24 and just graduated nursing school this past 5/10. She is working now at a hospital and no more sending money! Life is good ... I finally discovered my passion after I retired. I love silversmithing and making jewelry and I am presently in 3 galleries which makes me feel as though I am no longer retired. My husband, is presently attending classes in Tucson to become certified as an Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic. It's something he always wanted to do, but his scheduled use to vary every month and he never was able to take the classes. So he and I both float back and forth between Jerome and Tucson.
