Karen's Story
Life
I have had a life that I never imagined. I married my high school sweetheart, had three great kids, divorced after 10 years, and went to college. I have a BA in Fine Arts. I retired from Dominick's Foods after 28 years of employment. My daughter is an interior designer, my middle child is an accountant with Alcan, and my son is struggling through life trying to see where he fits in.. I am proud of them all, I have a blessed life.. miss alot of my friends especially from high school..I married Dan in 2001, we are currently moving to Indiana.. I love to work with clay, paint and pencil..my folks are still hanging in there..all five of my sibs are busy with families and homes too. All still live in Illinois...Any word about a class reunion? I missed the last one!
College
Graduated Cum Laude from Moraine Valley..Went on
to Governors State University to get a BA...
We are in Indiana, over 4 years now, we lost mom to diabetes complications in 2006..wouldn't wish that process on anyone...We now have two grandchildren. Frankie is 3 and Addyson just turned a month.. crazy about them. It's 2008..Dan is getting calls from Kansas City, Missouri,, who knows, Our adventure might take us there next..Still trying to get a studio together, to take on students.. slow going.. things are good and hope I can get together with friends for a 35th reunion if possible.. would love feedback on that.. 2010 spring, well starting a new career, going back to college for culinary..hoping to make the most awesome cake there ever was..I have combined my two favorite things, baking and art. We have 3 grandkids now. Wyatt was born last July to Dan's son and his wife. Next year is supposed to be the Italy trip..I have been drooling over some of the realestate out there.. hope all are having good lives.. hope to meet again someday.. 2013 My how ...Expand for more
the years are picking up speed! The grandkids are 7, 5 and 4 with another on the way..I am putting my baking career on hold, still making some special request cakes, but now working full time at the Illinois Tollway System.. shopping for a new SUV, My Toyota 2000 Rav has passed the 305000 mark and is finally crapping out.. bought it new, drove it into the ground, as I love the travel! Motto: see the earth before you leave it.. Ha..Dad is still hanging in there, turned 80 last July, still has a clean bill of health.. (hope I get some of those genes!) still in Burbank and complaining every day about wanting to leave, (the neighborhood, not earth) =/ God Bless all and be Happy! DECEMBER 2013 ; A few happy and sad thing these past months.. My mother-in-law passed in summer and two months later Dan's daughter Vickie (34) passed suddenly while on a business trip to Milwaukee.. that was surreal..We are planning a European trip next fall..picked up the Rosetta Stone and hope to be speaking fluid Italian shortly..ha.. I am on a repurposing kick, trying to think of creative things to do with plastics and such.. with the art background I am thinking sculptures..The grandkids are getting big...Dad is still here..last of his generation...He is hoping to go to Washington DC to see the memorials with his Korean War buddies.. I have been, some of them are awe inspiring..would love to hear how my cronies are doing...let me hear from ya!
JANUARY 2016
Christmas in New Orleans was a great experience. Took tours, shopped, saw the WWII museum, extremely interesting and some sadness. If you get out to NO please go see this! Rode street cars all over the place, Mississippi river tour was awesome, saw some of the destruction still visible from the hurricane. Did you know the battle of 1812 lasted only 30 minutes? Saw a lot, ate a lot. Need to exercise a lot.. haha. Hope all is well and looking forward to reunion in October!
