Karen's Story
Life
Greetings from McKinney, Texas! I live just north of McKinney, actually, with my 20-yr-old daughter, Allison. I have two grown children (Christina and Jonathan), and four wonderful grandsons (Joshua, Noah, Jonathan, and Brenden).
I'm currently unemployed, but I was a clerical worker/secretary for a number of years. I've worked for such diverse places as J.C. Penney Life Insurance Co., Atlantic Richfield, and the City of McKinney.
I briefly attended Collin County Community College, where I received a certificate in Computer Aided Drafting and Design. I'm actually pretty close to receiving an associates degree in CADD (interior design option). If you know me very well, that may be a source of amusement to you!
My interests include reading (especially books dealing with science, history, art, or religion), drawing, various crafts, movies/TV, and playing computer games.
I homeschooled Allison for eight years, officially. I have made a lifetime commitment to educate my daughter, however, as God chose to bless and trust me with a child with (high-functioning) autism.
I've been divorced for many years, and as much as I appreciate the love and support of my family over the years, I'm craving ot...Expand for more
her human contact. I've been rather isolated, I'm afraid (not so much by geography, but by circumstances), and I'd like to change that. I hope this profile is a step in that direction!
School
1) My biggest "crush" was on Steve Koch, and I think I really loved the guy (even at that tender age). 2) I guess Mr. Griffin was my most "memorable" teacher. 3) I didn't know I had the choice not to go to school! (Seriously, though, every experience has a purpose.)
If you're reading this, Steve, do you remember your "wardrobe malfunction" (just when you reached the "punchline"). Honestly, though, I wouldn't have noticed if you hadn't called my attention to it! I want you to know that my happiest times were spent with you, Etienne. Shame on you, though, for setting me up with the Buffalo Springfield poster. You knew I couldn't resist! I wish things had turned out differently...
College
I just want to thank the angel that drove me home, repeatedly, after I fell asleep at the wheel!
Workplace
There's no arc in my work history, though there may be double arches in my future! (Seriously, kudos to all those people in countless thankless positions that make our lives safer, easier, and more pleasant!)
