Authors she likes include George Orwell, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Mark Twain, Charles Fort and Lawrence M. Krauss. Movies she likes include Star Wars, Star Trek III: The Wrath of Khan, The Princess Bride, Smoke Signals, It's a Wonderful Life, and The Passion of the Christ. TV shows she likes include The Simpsons, Last Man Standing, The Goldbergs, and The Big Bang Theory.
Some of Karen's favorite quotes include the following:
"Doh!"
"No good deed goes unpunished."
"What part of an inverse tangent approaching an asymptote don't you understand?"
"Old Trekkers never die. They just Klingon!"".
I have many, many interests. Foremost among them are my Christian faith and other religions, history, science, Fortean science, science fiction, art, arts and crafts, cooking and animal rights.
I've been known to wax poetic, and I've even dabbled in song-writing.
I like to work jigsaw puzzles (especially on the computer), but I love working crossword puzzles. (They're especially nice when the words are friendly!) I also enjoy creating both types of puzzles, using computer software.
I have worked diligently to preserve my family photos in digital form. Many of them have required a great deal of repair, so, with the images numbering in the thousands, it's been quite a labor of love.
I prefer non-fiction to fiction, vanilla to chocolate, and cotton to satin.
I enjoy an active dream life and am a lucid dreamer.
I see auras, and possibly dead people. (I MAY be kidding.)
I'm open to the possibility of extraterrestrial life--and even life on Earth!
I am a TOTAL Trekker!
I break for unicorns, squirrel...Expand for more
s, and all other lifeforms. (Picture Commander Data singing right about now.)
If you know me well, then you know I LOVE television! Some people feel that television is bad for children...All I know is that I grew up watching TV, and I turned out TV! (Doh!)
I should mention that I took a (commercial) break from television to obtain a certificate in Computer-aided Drafting and Design (CADD) from Collin College (FKA as Collin County Community College). My focus was on Interior Design--which is quite hilarious, if you know me at all!
I homeschooled my daughter, Allison, for a number of years, and it was a very satisfactory experience for both of us. (I'd do it again in a heartbeat!)
Have I mentioned that I am a proud member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation? Put that in your peacepipe and smoke it! Woo-hoo!
You may or may not know that, when I was young, I entertained fantasies of becoming a writer, a musician, an archeologist, an oceanographer, and even a secret agent (at various stages of my youth). I still have aspirations in a couple of those areas...
Due to the nature of my father's work back in the day (geophysical), I lived in at least ten different places growing up, and I've called at least five more communities "home" since then. I once had the opportunity to live in Rome, but I must admit that I was more disappointed that my family opted not to relocate to Australia.
One of my passions is delving into the so-called "Bible Code," the hidden messages embedded in the Torah (Hebrew scriptures). I've studied this code for nearly seven years...I didn't need to be convinced, personally; but, to me, it provides incontrovertible proof of the authorship of the Bible (Almighty God)!
Eschatology, or the study of the Last Days, is another of my passions. If you doubt that we are in the Last Days, I URGE you to read the Book of Daniel (as well as the Revelation of St. John) and then watch the world news on a reliable station. (TV is good for more than entertainment!)
Please stay tuned to "The Life of Karen".
