Karen's Story
After graduating from good ole Sooner High School, I went to the University of Oklahoma. I didn't decide on a major right away, just anything but education! So guess what my major was - elementary education! I taught 5 1/2 years in the Putnam City schools in an open concept school teaching fifth and sixth graders. I also got married right after graduating from OU to a Yankee from upstate New York, who was working as a food broker. Then we moved to the Tuttle area (SW of OKC) and I taught two years in fifth grade and two years in kindergarten at Bridgecreek. n, taught and raised two children: Angela who is 24, married, in the Air Force and currently serving a 6 month term in Iraq and John, who is 22, is studying at Rolla, Mo, to be a civil engineer and plans to graduate in Dec.
We left Bartlesville in 2000, moved to Joplin, to be closer to Springfield, as Dennis, my husband, is now an engineer for BSNF railroad. I teach at Carl Junction High School, as an English teacher to special ed students. That's my life in a nutshell.
My husband, who also has his pilot's license, and I love to travel by air or by car. We just returned from an eight day trip to Mt. Rushmore and Yellowstone Park along with our dog, Snickers, a black lab/terrier mix. She loves to travel by car and by air.
