Karen's Story
1959 - Graduated from St Anthony High School, Long Beach, CA.
2/27/1965 married Mike (John Michael Jacob). In 1965 or 66 Mike was hired to work at Goddard Space Flight Center and we were moved lock stock and barrel to Maryland by the federal government. Mike continued with federal government jobs till he retired in Jan 2006 with 43 yrs, 11 mo, & 9 days to his credit.
I continued working in private industry until I landed a job with the Social Security Administration (SSA) in Woodlawn, MD. Then after working 8 years with SSA I received a Disability Retirement in July of 2000.
Since my retirement I have pursued in developing my artistic talents with Photography, Carving/Tooling Leather, Ceramics (starting with...Expand for more
clay & handbuilding/sculpting my creations), Water Color and Oil paintings.
I have won several ribbons with my work that I have entered in the Annual Timonium State Fair here in Maryland. I will post some pictures of my work.
My profile picture shows one of my Oil Paintings. The title is "Zeus and Kadin Apperson". The boy is our 7 year old foster grandson with his father's pet Macaw.
In October 2009, I became a member of Womens Artists' Forum (WAF) and have started displaying my art works available for sale. I am working toward establishing a website to display my art online.
