Karen's Story
Left Barstow in 1962 bound for San Diego State. Bachelors and Masters degrees completed at Long Beach State. 15 years teaching Special Education, followed 18 months of traveling and backpacking across Europe and North Africa.
Several children and a divorce later started and ran my own business for the next 12 years, raising the children and sending them off to college. Sold my business ...Expand for more
and lounged for 2 years, then went to work as an auditor of affordable housing in Florida. Today, as the compliance director, I work from a home office in California for that same Florida company. Best job ever!! Married Sonny Thomas (Barstow class of 19600 in 2006 and live in Hinkley on our 7 acre farm complete with chickens, rooster and until recently, pig and goat. Life is good!!
