Karen's Story
Life
I now live in Rocklin, CA (east of Sacramento on the way to Tahoe). I've been here for 12 years since graduating from San Jose State with a Master's degree in Urban & Regional Planning. I have been married for 10 years and have two active daughters ages 7 & 5. I've been working for the City of Roseville for 12 years and love my job. I am currently an analyst in the Office of Economic Development. I recruit, retain and help to grow businesses in Roseville.
We did live further "up the hill" in Auburn for many years. The area is beautiful and I miss being in more of a rural setting, but we decided to move to the 'burbs so that I could work closer to where my girls go to school. Now I'm able to volunteer at school and be a Brownie leader, even though I work full ...Expand for more
time. Rocklin is a very nice town and I'm enjoying being part of a neighborhood. My girls like having friends to play with and our street has lots of young kids.
Believe it or not, I sometimes miss Lindsay a little. I do get to visit a few times a year and love seeing friends while I'm there (and eating at China's). I don't miss the brutal summer heat or the continuously foggy winters, but there was a certain "edge" to Lindsay that I miss. Growing up there taught me a lot and, as I now realize, shaped me as a person. The friendships that I had in Lindsay are still strong and is one of the most important things in my life.
If you're ever in the area, look me up. The house may be a disaster with two kids running around, but you're always welcome.
