Karen's Story
After graduation I attended Alan Hancock with a major in Early Childhood Development. My education evidently was for my personal benefit. I have four children - three sons and one daughter. In 1976 I moved with my family to Grants Pass, Oregon. I was in the dental field for nearly thirty years first as a chair side assistant and then over twenty years as an office manager.
I was the owner of Karen's Water Trucks and was a wild land forest fire fighter for several years. It was challenging, exciting and rewarding. I live on acreage behind Lake Selmac in the mountains of Southern Oregon. My property is adjacent to thousands of BLM acres with woods and log roads which are great for horseback riding, quad riding, hunting and hiking. I have abundant wildlife including black bears, cougars, bob cats, deer, elk and all the "little critters". I am an avid hunter and love fishing, especially the Rogue River which is nearly in my backyard. It has amazing steel-head and salmon fishing.
Raising and training Border Collies and New Zealand Heading/Eye Dogs is one of my greatest plea...Expand for more
sures. I compete in Stock Dog Trials horseback with my dogs. I always say I have no need to go to the gym with working and training dogs daily.
I raise horses, Quarter Horses and Paints, and have trained Labrador Retrievers for service and therapy dogs I had a mobile espresso business and only worked at special events and festivals a couple times a month. I don't want to work very hard. I just did it for personal enjoyment and it gave me an opportunity to work with my grandchildren and teach them one on one.
One highlight of my life was the opportunity to go to Honduras as a dental missionary for several months a few years ago. I fell in love with the people and the country. I am so blessed to live near all of my children and grandchildren and have the opportunity to be an integral part of each of their lives. I have four children, ten grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. All of them live within a thirty mile radius of each other and me. We have a close knit family and enjoy doing things together. My grandchildren are some of each others best friends.
