Karen's Story
Life
After high school I went to what was then called Lowell State TeacherÃÂs College. I dropped out to get married. We moved to the West Coast of Florida (Largo). I have lived here over 30 years. I have two grown sons and two fantastic granddaughters. I went back to school when my youngest son started pre-school. I obtained an Associates Degree in Computer Science and an Associates Degree in General Education. In 1980 I started working at Honeywell Inc. as an engineering technician. I worked full time and went to school nights to get my Bachelors and Masters degrees. I have worked on several very interesting programs. I started out working on the Space Shuttle (I have seen several launches, some landings and met astronauts). I also worked on NASP (National Aerospace Plane) and Space Station. I now work on a Star Wars type satellite program and a missile defense program. I am a software manager with 17 software engineers working for me. I never dreamed in Hig...Expand for more
h School that I would become a software engineer. I like to bowl, read, do stain glass, and go to movies and the theater. I am remarried and live in Palm Harbor, Fl. My name is now Karen DeFelix. Update 8/2010: I am retired now (alll of 2 months) and we are enjoying traveling (7,000 miles on the new truck). I am also doing Fused Glass jewelry and other glass pieces and Watercolor . I recently had two of my painting in an exhibit in Sarasota, FL . My son remarried a lovely woman and I not only got a new daughter-in-law but also three wonderful new grandchildren for a total of 5. Life is good. Update 2012 - Last March we moved to GA. Most people retire and move to FL and get a smaller home. We moved to GA and got a much bigger home. Plenty of room in the bonus room for me to paint and room in the basement to do the fused glass. People said I would be bored when I retired but the days fly by. I hope our class will have a 50th reunion. I would love to see everyone.
