In 10th grade, our family moved to Texas in 1977, to be closer to my mother's family. I graduated from Trinity High School in 1980. I was known for singing loudly in my apartment with the headphones on oblivious, of everything going on around me. One of my friends lived with her boyfriend downstairs and they would frequently pop in unannounced. Her boyfriend heard me singing Mistral Wind by Heart and suggested I try out as the singer in his band, Saphyre. They're way of teaching me how to sing from my diaphram was by locking me in the garage until I figured it out, lol. This was the start of my allustrious singing career, lol. I met my first husband in 1981. He was a coworker at Xerox Corp. He was 17 years my senior. We moved to El Paso, Texas in 1982. We divorced in 1986 and I moved back to DFW. I married again in 1988 and my daughter Samantha was born in 1990. In 1994, I sat in with a friend of mine's band because the singer had laryngitis. A writer from a local magazine heard me and gave my name and number to a great southern rock and blues band (Second Nature) that was looking for a singer. These guys were professional musicians, way out of my league. I had never played in a bar before, but they didn't know that, lol.
