Karen's Story
Life
I can't believe that 35 years has gone by since our graduation. I did not graduate in Leonia - my family moved to Tenafly, but I have always felt that Leonia was my "hometown", and often think about what all my old friends have been up to.
My ex-husband and I raised two great boys. They both graduated from college (one - summa cum laude) and one has a wonderful career, and one his own business. I'm am so proud of them, but mostly of what kind of men they have become. My youngest, John, just got engaged! I am looking forward to all that -- and the possibility of a grandchild! The oldest, Michael, is having way to much fun to settle down. He's living the life!
As for me, after seventeen years of marriage we made a very friendly split, and I have been living with a guy for about nine years now. We have a nice house in Hawthorne. He has three children from his first marriage - now still teenagers! Tough after you...Expand for more
've done it once, and they love to stay at our house. That's okay, kids keep you young!
My mom is still well and very active. I have my sisters (3) and brother that I am very close with, and we love being all together even though a couple of them are out of state. I have many nieces and nephews. It's great.
I have had a few different career paths. I started out in the dental field - worked full time, then part time after the kids for quite a few years. I have since stayed in the bookkeeping field - for a newspaper, employee leasing company, then settled in the accounting field, where I have been for the last 6+ years in Hackensack.
I love to cook and entertain for friends and family, love to play poker, go to concerts and shows, dine out, travel and all other things most people our age like to do! Also, I've been on bowling, roller hockey and softball leagues over the years, and still love to do them all when I can.
