Karen's Story
After I left school, I became a mother. I have a son and two daughters. I have 3 grandsons and 7 granddaughters.....from 2 years old to 20 years old! So, I've always been busy being a mother and grandmother (not to mention being an aunt and a sister and a daughter)! Family keeps you busy.
During all this time, I also worked. My first job ever (other than helping my Mom at the elementary school) was working at a sewing factory in Prescott, Arizona. From there, I worked for Standard Printing Co. in Phoenix, Az, started out running a machine on the manufacturing floor. One day their typist was off work, someone told them I could type....so, went up and did some typing for them. Lost my job on the floor, got a promotion to the office!
My main jobs and responsibilities were Secretary to the Plant Man...Expand for more
ager, and Human Resources Representative. I worked at the former Sperry Flight Systems for 8 years as a Secretary. From there, I went to Parker (Aerospace) Hannifin, retiring in 2006 as their H.R. Representative after 21 years of service.
I love retirement. My main goal in life was to work long enough to be able to retire! No, lie....I never felt like a "career" type of person, I just had a job. One that I could retire from eventually! (and I did....I reached my goal!)
I've enjoyed reconnecting with all my friends that I grew up with. Seven of us went from Kindergarten through High School together...Ellen, Elaine, Sheri, Susan, Diana, Leslie and me. Then in High School, Janice, Kathi and Shawn joined our team.
Love my family and my friends.
It might not be much of a life, but, it's My Life.
