Karen's Story

Karen is from Boulder, Colorado. Her schools include Fairview High School. She later attended Colorado School of Mines (Geology), University of Colorado Boulder (Geophysics). She works(ed) at Chinook Geoconsulting, Inc.. One of Karen's favorite quotes is:"“Twenty years from now you will be more disappointed by the things you didn’t do than by the ones you did do. So throw off the bowlines, sail away from the safe harbor. Catch the trade winds in your sails. Explore. Dream. Discover.” - Mark Twain "There are three kinds of lies: lies, damned lies, and statistics." - CW Dilke then many others. I HATE the mis-use of statistics and science ...Expand for more
for some gain.". More about Karen:"I'm a geophysicist, married to Jim Thompson. We like to have as much outdoors fun as possible with our cat, Y-Lee. I love flyfishing (trout, bonefish) and riding mountain bikes and my trail motorcycle (currently a Zero X electric). Geophysics my whole career - been fortunate to work all over the world - 45 countries - tons of travel. Best job ever! And when I travel, I don't exactly stay in 5-star hotels. Bush camps, run-down houses, small motels in the middle-of-nowhere Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, Canada, and US. And loving it! What a great way to see the world and appreciate the USA better.".
