Karen's Story
Life
Life really is what you make of it.
My husband and I decided to go our seperate ways after a few months shy of 20 years. We share 2 dogs (yes... it's in the agreement, lol). A Boston Terrier (Emily Nicole) and one Pug/English Bulldog mix (Abigail Reese). Since we don't have children, these ladies are as close as we can get. Emily is the apple of my eye. We had no children, but we had minivan. The dogs needed one! They have a doggie condo here in Clinton, complete with air condition in the summer(Abigail is hot natured) and heat for the winter (Emily is cold natured)... what the heck... they deserve it :-)
School
I loved High School. And even then, I knew, that it was a great time to be enjoyed. Most people couldn't wait to get out, but I knew I had it made. No...Expand for more
responsibilities, parents paid for everything! Those where the days! I loved my friends and I haven't met many people since them that are such good loyal friends. I can't wait until the next reunion!
College
College was much harder than expected. I'm glad I had Ms. Horton for Trig, it was the most challenging class I had that would prepare me for NCSU, and it seemed easy after I got to State. It wasn't near as fun as High School, as I had to study so hard, there was little time left for fun. But I'm glad I stuck it out, it allowed me to have the career I have now, and I love it!
Workplace
I love my career. I am the District Engineer for Duplin and Sampson Counties for the North Carolina Department of Transportation. It is hectic, challenging and yet very rewarding.
